Fireplace casts have been my passion for over 40 years.

I come from Saarland, a small state in the West of Germany with a tradition in the coal and steel industry that goes back centuries: iron and steel works, foundries and mines have been at home in this region ever since the 17th century and earlier. Although there is a recent change from heavy industry to services and especially the IT – industry, the “Dillinger Hütte” still produces quality steel, that is being exported internationally. Whether you have an apartment in the Hotel Burj al Arab or whether you walk the bridge crossing the Tejo in Lissabon, beneath your feet you find steel produced in Saarland.

During the past 30 years, while I was working as a specialist in orthopaedic and orthopaedic surgery, I could rarely find time for my fireplace cast collection. I never lost sight of my hobby though. Now, after retiring from my career in medicine, I can make another dream of mine come true and open my own online shop for antique fireplace and oven casts.

The casts originate from France, Germany, England and the Benelux countries. In most cases they are originals from their respective era. So if e.g. the cast displays a Rococo motif, it has been cast in the respective period of time and has outlasted centuries.

All casts that you can find in my shop I have personally discovered and – as far as possible and if necessary – restored. My brother Hans Joachim, currently working as a ENT specialist, supports me in the restoration, as well as the establishment of contacts to France. Furthermore my son André takes care of the online shop as computer specialist.
